CR 1009 Idly Rice Idli Recipe

Ingredients:

2 cups CR 1009 Idly Rice
1 cup split black gram (urad dal)
1/2 tsp fenugreek seeds (optional, for added flavor)
Salt to taste
Water as needed

Instructions:

1. Soak Ingredients: Rinse the CR 1009 Idly Rice and soak it in water for 4-6 hours. Rinse the urad dal and fenugreek seeds together and soak separately for 4-6 hours.
2. Grind the Batter: Drain the soaked urad dal and grind it in a blender with a little water until you get a smooth, fluffy batter. Transfer to a large mixing bowl. Then, drain the CR 1009 Idly Rice and grind it with a bit of water until you get a slightly coarse batter. Combine both batters in the mixing bowl.
3. Fermentation: Add salt and mix the batter well. Cover and let it ferment overnight in a warm place, or until the batter doubles in volume and becomes airy.
4. Prepare Idlis: Grease the idli molds lightly with oil. Pour the batter into the molds, filling each about 3/4 full.
5. Steam the Idlis: Place the idli molds in a steamer and steam for about 10-12 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
6. Serve: Let the idlis cool for a minute before carefully removing them from the molds.

Serving Suggestions: Serve CR 1009 Idly Rice idlis hot with coconut chutney, sambar, or tomato chutney for a traditional and satisfying meal.
