1509 Rice Chickpea Pulao Recipe

原料:

1 cup 1509 rice (rinsed and soaked for 20 minutes)
2 cups water
1 tbsp oil or ghee
1/2 tsp cumin seeds
1 bay leaf
2-3 cloves
1 small cinnamon stick
1 onion, thinly sliced
1 cup cooked chickpeas (or canned chickpeas, drained and rinsed)
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
1/2 tsp garam masala
1/2 tsp coriander powder
Salt to taste
Fresh coriander leaves for garnish

指示:

1. In a pot, bring 2 cups of water to a boil. Add the soaked 1509 rice and cook until the rice is about 80% done. Drain and set aside.
2. In a large pan, heat oil or ghee over medium heat. Add cumin seeds, bay leaf, cloves, and cinnamon stick. Sauté until fragrant.
3. Add the sliced onion and cook until golden brown.
4. Add the cooked chickpeas, turmeric powder, garam masala, coriander powder, and salt. Stir to combine and cook for 5 minutes to allow the spices to blend.
5. Add the partially cooked 1509 rice to the pan with the chickpeas, gently mixing to combine.
6. Cover and cook on low heat for another 10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld and the rice to finish cooking.
7. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves before serving.

Serving Suggestions: Serve 1509 rice chickpea pulao with a side of yogurt, raita, or pickle for a hearty, flavorful meal.
